Last season info Silverstone
Kimi Raikkonen was hoping for better luck at Silverstone. It didn’t happen. He qualified less than three hundredths of a second behind Fernando Alonso, but another failed Mercedes V10 demoted him to 12th on the grid, dealing another heavy blow to the Finn’s world championship hopes. Sunday afternoon’s front row consisted Alonso and Jenson Button, giving British fans hope of a home win, or at least BAR’s first podium of the year. Juan Pablo Montoya had other ideas, sprinting from third on the grid to pass Button into Turn 1 and come alongside the leading Renault. By the time they reached Becketts, the Colombian had muscled ahead of Alonso, in a move that effectively clinched his first win for McLaren. It really was a McLaren-Renault race, just 18 seconds covering their four cars at the finish.
Winner + pole + fastest lap Silverstone
Fernando Alonso (Renault) started from pole position and also won the race. Second became Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) and third Kimi Räikkönen (McLaren-Mercedes). Fastest Lap was clocked by Fernando Alonso 1:21.599.
Historic info Silverstone
The British Grand Prix is currently held at the Silverstone Circuit. The first ever British Grand Prix was won by the French team of Louis Wagner and Robert Sénéchal driving a Delage 155B. Silverstone has hosted the race regularly since the start of the F1 championship in 1950 and every year since 1987. During the 2003 British Grand Prix, Neil Horan, an Irish ex-priest, ran onto the track at the Hangar Straight, waving religious banners. He was immediately tackled by race officials and removed from the premises. In 2004 the British Grand Prix was left off the preliminary race schedule for 2005 because the BRDC refused to pay the race fee demanded by Bernie Ecclestone. However, after months of negotiation between the BRDC, Ecclestone and the Formula One constructors, an deal was made for the Grand Prix to be held at Silverstone until 2009.

General information
Silverstone circuit - the home of the motorsports as Britons like to call it is an old circuit. It is a beautiful track with huge stands. Most stands offer bucket seats and facilities for visitors are reasonable. All the popular stands are aligned from the last corner to the first corner. The huge Pit Straight stands is divided into sections and only some are covered. Woodcote and Copse stands in the corners are covered and that is not a luxury in the UK. Bridge and Farm are Enclosures and offer terrace like seating. The General admission area is also very popular as the track is quite long and there are many good spots to view the race. Since this year the organisers added two specific standing areas around Copse and Luffield (Bronze Plus).
Viewing quality
The track view is good from all stands. The quality is mainly decided by the location of the stand with the pit straight and Copse stands being the most sought after. A good choice also is the Luffield stand or the Woodcote stand. At the far side of the track Stowe is also a good location to view the race.
Prices
Britain used to be amongst the more expensive tracks but the last couple of years prices have come down. Prices can be compared with other European events.
